Maximize Your Impact: Submit Your Innovative Medicaid Care Presentations for MHPA’s 2024 Conference

The theme of the MHPA 2024 Annual Conference is “Driving Innovations in Care: Fueling a Better Medicaid” with tracks devoted to Equity, Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), Managed Long Term Service & Supports (MLTSS), and Policy. Submissions should be related to the conference tracks, focus on innovative practices and proven solutions, and have relevance to the conference theme. With the exception of the Policy track (reserved for MCOs only), all presentation submissions should highlight an organization’s work in collaboration with a Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) that solves an issue, meets a health plan need, and/or rethinks the delivery of care. Presentation submissions should be focused on enhancing the audience’s understanding of an MCO partnership with an organization, its structure, its goals and outcomes, any potential impacts on policy issues or areas, and how Medicaid enrollees are benefitted by the partnership, etc. This is not an opportunity to directly sell or to pitch products or services, but rather an opportunity to showcase innovations deployed by MCOs to support its members and the Medicaid program broadly. The goal is to provide MHPA24 attendees with take-home knowledge to help them in their mission to positively impact their Medicaid members’ health. Multiple external reviewers will rate the submissions based on strength of the submitted information and adherence to the criteria outlined here.

  • Equity

Sessions should focus on activities and commitments to address structural, historical and contemporary injustices that may drive health disparities among Medicaid populations.

  • Social Determinants of Health (SDoH)

Sessions should focus on addressing social drivers of health facing Medicaid populations, such as transportation, food insecurity, housing, economic security, etc.

  • Managed Long-Term Service & Supports (MLTSS)

Sessions should focus on improving care for populations requiring long-term services and supports through managed care programs and increasing access to home and community-based services.

  • Policy

Sessions should focus on federal and state policies that lead Medicaid forward by expanding full risk, comprehensive managed care to more populations, encouraging better integration and coordination of services for beneficiaries, and improving the overall quality and efficiency of the program. This track is reserved for Medicaid managed care plans and all presenters must be Medicaid managed care plan officials. Medicaid managed care plans are encouraged to consider collaborating on these sessions.

Proposals lacking an MCO presenter will be rejected.

Submitting a presentation proposal is free of charge.

Submit Presentation

Submissions will be reviewed and scored by the MHPA Conference Review Committee composed of health plan members and partners. Notification of acceptance will be made by mid-June. This year there will be an increase to 25 breakout session slots. The presentation proposal acceptance rate is based on the number of submissions received but due to the available presentation slots, the acceptance rate may be less than 33%.
